Scholarly Communication

This LibGuide provides information on how to navigate the changing landscape of scholarly communication

Research Data Management

Research Data Management (RDM):

  • is a term that describes the organization, storage, preservation, and sharing of data collected and used in a research project.
  • it also involves decisions about how data will be preserved and shared after the project is completed (for example, depositing the data in a repository for long-term archiving and access).

RDM and Research lifecycle

RDM refers to the active curation of data throughout the research lifecycle.

Why should I manage my data?

Managing data helps:

  • to ensure research integrity and reproducibility
  • to prove research findings
  • to increase your own research efficiency and reliability
  • to save time, prevent errors and resources in the long run
  • to enhance data security and minimize the risk of data loss
  • to ensure your data is accessible and shareable that will prevent duplication of effort by other researchers
  • to prevent accidental breaches of privacy and ethical legislation
  • to meet funding body grant requirements (if applicable)
