Research Data Management

is a term that describes the organization, storage, preservation, and sharing of data collected and used in a research project.
it also involves decisions about how data will be preserved and shared after the project is completed (for example, depositing the data in a repository for long-term archiving and access).

RDM refers to the active curation of data throughout the research lifecycle.

Managing data helps:

to ensure research integrity and reproducibility
to prove research findings
to increase your own research efficiency and reliability
to save time, prevent errors and resources in the long run
to enhance data security and minimize the risk of data loss
to ensure your data is accessible and shareable that will prevent duplication of effort by other researchers
to prevent accidental breaches of privacy and ethical legislation
to meet funding body grant requirements (if applicable)
