Library support in the research lifecycle

In this LibGuide, we will explore the symbiotic relationship between scholarly communication and academic library support, guiding researchers through the dynamic research lifecycle.

Open Access Publishing

Open Access Publishing:

  • Makes research findings freely accessible to a global audience, increasing visibility and impact.
  • Accelerates the progress of science by fostering knowledge sharing.

Transformative agreements

Transformative Agreements:

Foster a shift towards open access by transforming subscription-based journals into open access models.

Promote broader dissemination and accessibility of research outputs.

“Read and Publish” Agreements also known as Transformative Agreements (TA) are negotiated licence agreements in which former subscriptions are repurposed and channelled to support Open Access Publishing.

At Nelson Mandela University the library aims to make published research open access (OA) for all and to assist our researchers and emerging researchers with article processing charges (APCs) when choosing to publish open access.
