Transformative agreements

Transformative agreements are contracts negotiated between institutions and publishers that transform the business model underlying scholarly publishing towards a fully open access model.

2. Emerald – Three-year agreement from 2022-2024

Corresponding authors can publish a capped number of articles in hybrid journals for APCs to be waived to which Nelson Mandela University subscribes.

This works on a 1st come 1st served basis. Number of articles are capped at:

2022 = 116

2023 = 140

2024 = 165
