How to publish open access under an institutional agreement with American Chemical Society (ACS)
- When an institution has a touch-free agreement with American Chemical Society Publications the author is NOT required to take any action within CCC RightsLink to initiate the funding request.
- The author MUST select their institution at the time of article submission in Paragon Plus. If the article is not affiliated with the institution included in the off-set agreement, the funding request will not process automatically through the touch-free agreement in CCC RightsLink.
- At manuscript acceptance, the author receives an email invitation to enter the Journal Publishing Agreement (JPA) Tool. This tool interactively drives the author to the appropriate JPA based on journal, agreement affiliation (the agreement name will be included within the outline box area) and author response. Once the JPA is signed, the author has no further action as the funding request has automatically gone into the agreement queue. a. In the JPA process, if the author chooses “No I do not wish to publish open access”, OA Operations contacts them to confirm their intention. If the author does wish to publish open access, we work with them to sign a new JPA. If the author intentionally does not want to publish open access, we work with the agreement administrator to deny the funding request or cancel the approved request and return the token to the agreement.
