Evidence Synthesis

This research guide provides an overview of the evidence synthesis process, guidance documents for conducting evidence synthesis projects, and links to resources to help you conduct a comprehensive and systematic search of the scholarly literature.

Citation management

A citation management program will save you a lot of time when doing your evidence synthesis.  Programs like Endnote, Zotero or Mendeley will store and organize the citations collected during your screening, de-duplicate the results and automatically format in-text citations and bibliographies in your manuscript.

EndNote

Nelson Mandela University subscribes to EndNote, reference management software developed by Clarivate Analytics. It is designed to help researchers, scholars, and students organize and manage their bibliographies and citations.

EndNote allows users to:

  • create a personal library of references
  •  import citations from various databases and sources
  • integrate references with word processing programs such as Microsoft Word
  •  automatically generate bibliographies and citations in different citation styles
  • insert and format references in documents

Install EndNote (available to only Mandela University staff and students).

Please consult the EndNote Guide for more information on how to install and use EndNote.
